You know when you hear someone’s story and it inspires you to have hope that the same things are possible for you? In these special episodes of Fearless Rebelle Radio, I run solo and am catching up with some very special women in my life that I know are going to inspire you. This is part 1 and 2 of the You, On Fire (formerly Rock Your Body) Spotlight Series.
When I initially exited stage left of the dieting shitshow and decided to work on making over my brain instead of my plate, I was terrified. The idea of accepting a body I had hated for my entire life was inconceivable (said in the true Vizzini Princess Bride way).
This was at a time when body positivity wasn’t as mainstream as it is today (and it’s still not!). I didn’t have any reference point for what my future might hold.
When we don’t have role models and similar stories to give us hope and show us what is possible, we let our fears win over us and control our destiny.
I receive feedback from women saying, “it’s easier for you to accept your body Summer because…”
- You’re not as big as me
- You don’t have health issues
- You’ve got a husband who loves you and I’m single
- I’m older than you and there is no way I can change these beliefs at my age
- You spend all your time with body positive people
You know what? You’re right. Perhaps it was easier for me. I don’t know because I’m not in your shoes and I have the upmost respect for ANYONE trying to love themselves because regardless of your circumstances, it’s not easy.
That’s why I’ve gathered together 8 inspirational women, who are just like you, to share their very different stories.
Each of them did You, On Fire (formerly Rock Your Body) in the spring and the reason I’m sharing their stories with you today is simple: I want you to see that whatever your circumstances, you can ditch the beliefs that have been shoved down your throat over the years—about size, appearance and your happiness and worth as a woman.
