You may see images of me unabashedly showing my body and speaking my mind and think I’m a no-nonsense-diva that never feels self-conscious. The truth of the matter is, I’m a rockstar wracked with self-doubt and that’s who I want you to be too.
We all have that voice in our head (what I refer to as your doppelgänger) that says we’re not good enough or tries to hold us back by saying we’re not ready.*
This voice never goes away and it gets louder when we’re being courageous and going after the things we want. Any time we step outside of our comfort zone – whether that’s by quitting dieting, wearing a form-fitting top or asking for a raise at work – our doppelgänger is going to get feisty.
Confidence is the ability to say “I hear you, but I’m going to do it anyways.”
This phrase, “rockstar wracked with self-doubt,” is something I learned from one of my mentors, Tara Mohr. Tara is the author of the book Playing Big and I took her coaches training last year. Her approach is something that helped me tremendously and it’s part of what I use when I’m working with clients.
